The pros and cons of coffee and caffeine

But first… coffee!

It’s Sunday night, you set the alarm for Monday morning at 6:30am for a productive start to the week. For many of us, coffee is the first thought in our mind every morning when that alarm goes off. More than just something you want, it’s a need! Many of us are guilty of thinking “Urghh I need a coffee!!” to get us going.

And then that need pops up again at 9am, lunch, 3:00pm, and 5:00pm to get you through your day to finish your work or to meet that deadline. But should we be reliant on one substance to drive our productive and energetic life every day?

Cup of caffeine please

Coffee’s main source of fuel is caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant that speeds up the messages travelling between the body and brain (for the keenbeans out there - it causes increased neuron firing). It blocks the effects of chemicals that relax the brain (adenosine - for the keen beans) and can bring a state of arousal and alertness however this instant “caffeine kick” can also bring side effects such as stress, headaches, anxiety, restlessness, mood issues, rapid heartbeat, and lack of concentration.

I’m just going to grab one more...

We have all relied upon coffee to get us alert and getting through important tasks at work as we all need to be quick on our feet today and thinking clearly. We have convinced ourselves that we are better with coffee, as it keeps us feeling good and that can be the difference between a good day, that gets us closer to a promotion, climbing the corporate ladder, finishing a project or meeting a deadline and a bad day where you’re unproductive and lazy. If our mind and mental performance and energy is so important to our success, why do we rely on just plain old coffee for so many things? Surely your attention and hard work is worth more than a $4.60 double-shot flatwhite!!

All those lattes, cappuccinos and short blacks may have been your quick fix energy option for those late night papers or early morning meetings but they do not provide many, if any, nutritional benefits.

What about another way?

What about taking a different approach to energy, by fuelling your body and mind with ingredients specifically formulated to improve focus and mental function along with the superfood green tea extract, to give that little boost of natural energy that keeps you at your productive peak without jitters or crash of a coffee come down. So you can have your cake and eat it too!

We know we cannot rely on one source of food to fuel our bodies so why do so many of us rely on one beverage to fuel our brains. Feed your brain the healthy food that it needs to keep you thriving all day, every day!

What about something so much better than just coffee?

But what if there was something NEW, something better, something made for 2020 and designed specifically for your mind to be sharper and give you long lasting benefits?
